The comforter
in question was taken to RMC and RMC dissected the comforter at their office.
1) Upon initial
examination, the top side of the comforter had no stains on it.
2) They flipped the comforter to the side
(that appeared to have stains) and when laying flat on the table – there were
no stains
3) When held up to the light and light coming through the comforter, you could
see the stains.
4) The comforter was cut open and the
feathers exposed - there were dark
(presumedly goose feathers)
Dark stains on down comforters is most often attributed
to excess oil coming from the down. Dry cleaning may cause the oils found in
down to migrate and stain the shell fabric
According to RMC the new coverlets being considered do not contain feathers and will be replaced on the beds.
